Dominican Monastery of the Mother of God
Our life, as nuns of the Order of Preachers, is centered on prayer. This includes communal prayer, through daily Mass and the solemn chanting of the Liturgy of the Hours, and times of quiet prayer given to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the rosary and lectio divina. Under the rhythm of our monastic observances, we strive to balance many diverse elements: silence and recreation; prayer and work; solitude and the common table; study and community meetings (“Chapter”). Through our life of prayer and penance, we spiritually support the preaching of the other members of the Order in a way which is hidden, yet fruitful in the salvation of souls. We also have a special love for Mary, the Mother of God, as we were founded under her patronage.
